MBS in Talks with the University |

The Melbourne Business School Board of Directors is currently in discussions with the University of Melbourne to explore the possibility of a deeper level of integration of MBS and the University. The aim of these discussions is to build on the strengths of both MBS and the Faculty of Economics and Commerce, and potentially achieve new synergies. Full story

Thank you for all you have done this year for Melbourne Business School. We are deeply grateful for your involvement which is reflected in all that we have achieved this year.  It is key to our success.

It’s been a year of milestones in each of the three core activities of research, award programs, and executive education. Let me tell you about some of them.


Geoff Allen Recognised for Leadership and Service |

Geoffrey David Allen, MBA 1969, Founder and Director of the Allen Consulting Group and Founder and Chairman of the Centre for Corporate Affairs was awarded the 2008 Distinguished Alumni Award at the MBS Annual Alumni Dinner on 19th November 2008. Read more


Record Gift Will Fight Disadvantage |

An extraordinary class gift of $500,000 was announced at the Annual Alumni Dinner. Taking everyone by surprise, the EMBA Class of 2003 raised the final $85,000 at the pre-dinner drinks to complete their class gift in celebration of their 5th year anniversary. Guests at the Dinner applauded them enthusiastically. Full story


2008 Annual Alumni Dinner |

This year's Annual Alumni Dinner was attended by over 540 alumni, staff and friends of MBS. The Reverend Tim Costello AO spoke about the current economic situation and its ethical implications. Full story

Success for MBA Graduates |

More than 96% of the 2008 MBA graduates were employed or received job offers within 3 months of graduating. Up to 70% signed on before their final exams. Information was collected from 80.3% of the 112 students who graduated in May 2008 as part of the school's commitment to tracking the development of alumni. Full story


Joshua Gans ~ The delicate balance on parental leave |

A combination of policies – parental leave, loans and tax credits – is necessary to deal with possible conflicting market failures in relation to decisions to take parental leave.  This would allow for social insurance, provide parental leave that promotes child development and help to improve gender equality in the workplace.
