MBS Looks at the Implications of the Current Financial Crisis |

At a recent “standing-room only” event for alumni, students and staff, faculty members Mark Crosby and Ning Gong discussed the current state of the world economy and the implications for Australia.

With global financial markets in turmoil, we take this opportunity to invite any alumnus whose career has been affected by the crisis, who is seeking support for a job change or seeking a new position, to contact our Career Centre. MBS has six full time qualified staff in the Career Centre and two with financial services experience.  The Schools’ support for alumni includes personal coaching and assistance in matters related to job search and career decision-making. Telephone coaching and Skype services are available for alumni outside Melbourne.

Ian Harper Reflects on life at MBS and the University of Melbourne |

The end of an era was marked last week as Professor Emeritus Ian Harper reflected on his 20 years at the University, 17 of those at MBS. He spoke of the changes in the economy, the characters he met,  and his passion for the School. Alumni, faculty members and staff had been asked to contribute comments which were bound into a hard-cover book and presented to him. Read more

EMBA Class of 2003 Make Record Gift |

To celebrate five years since graduation, the EMBA Class of 2003 have already pledged $283,000 to a Class endowment and have set their sights on reaching $500,000.  The Class gift is a record in the School’s history, and was celebrated at their recent reunion in Melbourne, attended by Class members, faculty and staff.  Read more

Professor John Armstrong, Philosopher-in-residence, delivered an impassioned plea for business schools to ensure that ambition is sufficiently educated to achieve good and noble outcomes.
